Awakening Christian Academy — Smithfield, Rhode Island.

What if you could give your child the same model of education that John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and George Washington received — the same model that formed C.S. Lewis, Albert Einstein, and Winston Churchill? Each of these men received a classical education: a model rooted in two thousand years of the richest and best traditions of learning. They were not simply taught what to think, but how to think. Awakening Christian Academy was built to offer your child that same classical, Christian education.

"They were not simply taught what to think, but how to think."

The true, the good, and the beautiful

So what is a classical Christian school? At its essence, it cultivates a love for the true, the good, and the beautiful. Two convictions hold it together — the character of the child, and the content of what they learn.

Christ at the center

First, our academy is Christ-centered. We teach students that all learning and wisdom begins with knowing Jesus and giving one's life to God. Our aim is not merely to train your child for a vocation, but to form a virtuous person — one who knows and treasures the virtues of Scripture: wisdom, honor, courage, and faith.

The very best ever written, composed, and made

Second, alongside the character of your child stands our curriculum. Awakening students read the greatest works of literature — beginning with the Bible — hear the most beautiful music, and study the finest paintings and works of art in history. By the time they graduate, they carry a broad foundation of knowledge, and they can write well, speak well, and reason well.

Lifelong learners, lifelong disciples

Scripture says to train up a child in the way he should go, and even when he is old he will not depart from it. Our aim is to form students who are lifelong learners and lifelong followers of Jesus.

We know a school like this is, in some ways, countercultural — and we are at peace with that. We are not led by the culture of the world; we are led by Christ. So when our students step out into the world and its culture, they will be ready, because they have been equipped with the tools for learning and living that will serve them the rest of their lives.

Sixteen thousand hours

They say a child will spend sixteen thousand hours in school. Imagine those hours spent in a place where children learn to love what is true, good, and beautiful — where they know they belong to God and that He has a purpose for them — a school where teachers and students honor God and honor one another.

Join us in our mission to provide a Christ-centered, creative, classical education that cultivates virtuous living and Christian leadership in the next generation.
